Hello,

We have a Compaq Presario S5100NX PC which has Windows XP Home, SP1.
Connected to it is a HP Deskjet 400 printer via parallel port.
We have been having problems printing to this printer. I have been
told by HP that I should set the LPT1 properties to 'Use any interrupt
assigned to the port' and to check 'Enable legacy Plug and Play detection'.
Despite these settings, after the system is rebooted, the printing fails.
I have even tried to go into the Compaq BIOS and changing the printer port
type to EPP and even bi-directional. I am still getting this problem.
Is there any magical cure for this problem?

Thanks
Mike McWhinney

Deskjet 400 doesn't have a USB connection.

Did it ever work? Are you using an IEEE 1284 compatible cable? You might
try another cable.
