WinXP 2002: Microsoft Access can't start because there is no license for it on this machine

On my Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002, Service Pack 2 system I
installed Office 97. I am getting the following error when I open
Microsoft Access:

Microsoft Access can't start because there is no license on this
machine

Any pointers will be appreciated.

paste the error msg into google
because this is a known issuie.
there is a knowledge base article about it.

i remember some years ago. Access 97 had the same install bug on wins
98. The work around was to remove one of the font files to another
folder until the install was completed. I can't remember the font file
name. Could be the Haellenschwel or Harrington. There still might be
http:// support.microsoft.com/kb on this subject. I remember trying to
reinstall some many times that after using this work around, it was
the solution then.
