winword.exe will not close

hi
i have windows XP Pro and Office 2002
when i try to close the PC it does not work it keeps
working normally. i checked in the task manager and
founs that winword.exe is still on. if i click on end
task and close winword manualy then i can shut down the
comoputer.

what is causing this?
