WinUpdates Not Working

Using XP Pro with SP2. When go to WinUpdates, website
starts up saying "Checking For Latest Version Of Windows Updates
blah, blah, blah" - but, nothing starts or scans for new updates. Also
"View Installation History" and "Restore Hidden Updates" greyed out.
In control panel have Auto Updates set to Notify and IE settings at
default. Have checked various links for troubleshooting WinUpdates
with nil results. Appropriate spyware ran, disk cleanup done and
system defragged. Using Norton NAV & NIS 2003 and turned off
Windows Firewall. Any other ideas appreciated. Tx
