Got a dialog box that said

"C:\WINT.EXE has encountered an illegal instruction CS:0548.IP:0124OP:63 65
65 64 65"

It offered close or ignore. I selected close closed but it came back a few
times. I tried ignore too. I also found it and clicked on it and got the
same message.

Any thoughts?
What is WINT.EXE anyway

WINNT is the System Directory, but of course it is the instruction that is
the problem. You may want to run SCANNOW from your CD, assuming it is a
"full" XP CD.
Posted recently by Michael Solomon:

"The following assumes you have an actual XP CD as opposed to a restore CD
or
restore partition supplied by your PC manufacturer.

Go to Start, type sfc /scannow in the run box and press enter. Note, there
is a space between sfc and the forward slash. You will be asked for your XP
CD. Be aware, upon inserting the CD the XP setup screen may appear, this is
not a part of sfc /scannow, rather it is being invoked by autorun. Simply
minimize the screen and allow sfc to continue."

Hi!Rich!
It Performs an installation of or upgrade to Windows XP. If you have
hardware that is compatible with Windows XP, you can run winnt at a
Windows 3.x or MS-DOS command prompt.
1] start > Run > sfc /scannow > ok
if no help:-

2] try "repair xp"

Yes, it is junk. And not even bad enough junk to rate any hits in Google.

OK. Ran Spybot. All OK. Some further info:
In properties there are many tabs but no clue what this does, except the
logo is MSDOS (in colors)
It shows as created this afternoon. I did not download or otherwise change
anything this afternoon.
I renamed it to see what happens

WINT.EXE
