Winodws Mail

I recently got a new computer with Vista operating system. I am using
Windows Mail for E-mail.
I have a question about cutting and pasting of objects into the mail
message.

What is happening when I copy an object from an application or something
from an internet sight and when I past it into body of the message all I see
is a small rectangle with a smaller box and an x in it. The object that I
pasted in does not display.

Can you help.

It depends on what the "object" is.
A URL reference to a JPG image will not contain the actual image code.

Thanks for the reply Gary,

My old computer ran windows XP and I used Outlook Express for my email
On this computer I could copy images from a web sight and past them into an
e-mail and the object would be displayed. I could add my comments and off
it would go and the recipient would see the cartoon. Example would be an
editorial or comic cartoon from comic.com.

With Visa and using Windows mail this doesn't work. That is what is
confusing me. Is is something that I have not set up right or is it just
that this combination will not allow this now.

Appreciate your thoughts.

With Windows Mail, you can only cut & paste text.
You can send files as attachments, or save the image file to your computer,
then insert it into the message.

Rather then sending the whole image, why not just send a link to it?

As Dave already responded, Windows Mail does not permit pasting
of images. You can upgrade to the free Windows Live Mail which
does allow pasting of images:
