winnt\system32\config\systemced error

Ted

I get an error "winnt\system32\config\systemced file is
corrupt or damaged" at startup, that suddenly appeared on
my computer running Win 2000 Pro. I have checked the KB
but when I get to the recovery console it asks (in step
4) "Select the installation that you want to repair" with
a prompt allowing only one digit.Does anyone know what is
meant by this, what number do I put in for a valid
installation number? None of the other fixes work and that
is why I am going through the Recovery Console.

Thanks,
Ted

You enter the number for the installation you want to repair. If you
only have one copy of Windows 2000 number 1 is your only choice. Are we
missing something here? Have you actually tried this?
