WinMgmt Warning! before and after software installation (Event Viewer-Apps)
Installing Expression Web - Event Viewer-Applications
I'm not a technician. Windows XP Pro SP2 ver 2002, Office 2000 with
security updates via Windows Updates.
(1) On Dec 7 MsiInstaller introduced itself by installing multilingual user
interface (MUI)
(2) Immediately at the end of that
Event Viewer-Applications (WinMgmt) issued a
Warning!: A provider, OffProv12, has been registered in the WMI namespace,
Root\MSAPPS12, to use the LocalSystem account. This account is privileged
and the provider may cause a security violation if it does not correctly
impersonate user requests.
(3) Immediate next step: MsiInstaller notes Installation operation (of EW)
completed successfully
(4) MsiInstaller continues the updates that go with Expression Web.
(5) Event Viewer - Applications (WinMgmt) issued another Warning! as shown
in #2.
What is MsiInstaller doing (should be doing) (should not be doing) while
installing to cause this possible security violation? Should I have
something else turned on in Services? Please help me understand this. This
is what I have in Services:
- Windows Management Instrumentation, started, automatic
- Windows Management Instrumentatin Driver Extensions, manual
- WMI Performance Adapter, manual
