I am having the same problem. I went to the Application
Event Viewer and found the following errors had been
generated:
WMI ADAP was unable to process the performance libraries.
0x80041001
WMI ADAP was unable to load the PERFPROC.DLL performance
library due to an unknown problem within the library. 0x0
WMI ADAP was unable to load the performance library
because it threw an exception 0x80041001
I then went to Microsoft TechNet to find assistance and
there were a couple of suggestions one of which is to go
to the command prompt and enter the command WINADAP /r to
resynchronise the Performance DLL. I found that I had to
use the command WINMGMT /resyncperf with windows 2000.
It did not solve the problem.
I then disabled "Windows Management Instrumentation" in
SERVICES and the message no longer appears but I do not
know what negative effect this may cause
