winmail.dat

whatt is winmail.dat? when I send attachments to certain people, all they
get is what looks like an attachment, that says winmail.dat, but nothing
happens when they try to open the attachment. and sometimes, they get the
winmail.dat even when there wasn't any attachment. can someone explain this?
we are baffled.

In short, stop using Rich-Text Format outside your Exchange-Outlook
organization. When sending through SMTP and/or to Internet recipients,
use HTML or plain-text format.
