winmail.dat attachment issue...

B

Brad Pears

For soem reason, just recently, one of the dealer we regualry deal with via
email has reported he has been receiving a winmail.dat attachement with our
email messages.

We are using Outlook 2002 clients and Exchange 2000. He is using the Outlook
2000 client.

I did some research that said that this is a formatting file and that
Outlook creates this file everytime but if the client on the other end can
understand it, they will not get the winmail.dat attachment. Since he is
using Outlook, you would think this would not be an issue... We have not had
any one else complain of this...

Is there something that he can do at his end so that he does not receive
these? We do not want to change our formatting to plain text from HTML just
for him!!!

There must be some resolution to the issue!

Please help!

Thanks,

Brad

Set his contact to always use plain text and you won;t need to change your
formatting. Open his contact, double click on the email address and set it
to plain text.

He can not change anything on his end - his server may not be deciphering
the winmail.dat but that is beyond his control.

If you are sending to that client in rtf format then change the format to
plain text or html.
