Hello. I have a clean install of Windows 2000 SP4 and just installed
Norton Internet Security as the first application. I am now suffering
from the known problem where it will sometimes cause Winlogon to
consume 50-75% of CPU resources, which on my slower machine lasts for
around 10 minutes, after which I can again use the computer. I thought
this was supposed to be fixed in an earlier service pack, but I guess
it isn't working for me. It wasn't doing it before I installed Norton,
and it is immediately after, so there is little doubt as to what is
causing the issue.

Anyone have any other ideas about how to fix this?

Thanks, Irwin

Uninstall Norton, install NOD32 as your antivirus, and ZoneAlarm as your
firewall.
