| I'm not running any Symantec products, but I do have Avast!, SpySweeper
| (Webroot) and Windows Defender, which I had installed before the crash
| and did not interfere w/winfirewall. Is there anything else conflicting
| with it, should I run the that link you provided anyway??

Are you running any other firewall apart from the windows firewall? For instance the latest Zone Alarm version will close down the XP firewall when it starts up to stop any conflict. If you try and turn the XP firewall on again ZA closes it again.
