Hi

If you have a copy of winfile.exe from a NT 4.0 installation, you can use it in
WinXP...

It doesn't work properly. I last used it when I had 4 partitions. It worked fine on two of them, but would only show System Restore and Recycled on the other two partitions.

Yes it does provided you install a copy of winfile.exe. You can get
a copy from the following web site:

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp.htm

Note: A copy of winfile.exe from any version of Win9X will NOT work,
it has to be the copy from NT 4.0. (that was the last version of NT
to use winfile.exe, however, it still works well in XP)

It's worked fine for me both with my Win2000 installation and now with
my XP installation. I have 6 partitions: 3 = NTFS and 3 = FAT-32.
No problems whatsoever.

You can use the old Winfile.exe from Windows 3.11. I believe it was also in
Windows 98.

It won't work. Only the copy of winfile.exe that shipped with NT 4.0
(and possibly earlier versions of NT) are compatible. The
winfile.exe you're referring to is only for Win 3.X and Win 9X/ME.

You're right. Upon looking again, I have Norton File Manager from NT Tools
(1996). Works fine. Don't use it much though as I have come to depend upon
Windows Commander (Total Commander). Cardfile from Win 3.11 does work
correctly though.
