It has long been my understanding that using Winfile.exe with its 8.3 Filename
convention "could" mess up LFN's if used improperly.

Is this just an "old wive's tale" or has it some validity?

If the latter, why recommend the use of Winfile.exe?

Thanks.

It's not about using winfile.exe is how setup split-screen to have 2 tree
folder list on windows explorer
as i now as part of the procedure is to setup a short cut to the explorer
like
C:\Windows\Explorer.exe /n,/e,C:\
but the next step is missing probably a change of instrucctions on
folder.htt file or something about the windows registry but i really dont
know and i need help.

as far as i know there was some instrucctions on support KB doc id242450 or
93132 but the doc now is missing from KB.

any asistance??

Have a shortcut, with a command line like that, open it, open a folder
from it.

Then open a second instance (or another one opening some other
convenient point like D: rather than first opening the folder), and
right click in the Task Bar , take Tile Windows - Horizontally or
vertically, to taste.
