Installation of Microsoft Windows* XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) on systems using
Intel® Desktop Processors

For a successful installation of Microsoft* Windows* XP Service Pack 2 (SP2)
on systems using Intel® Pentium® 4 or Intel® Celeron® D processors, Intel
recommends a check of the system BIOS to ensure that it is a BIOS with Intel
production support for the installed processor. Using a BIOS that does not
support the matching processor may cause the system to hang on the first
reboot during installation of Microsoft Windows XP SP2.

If a system hangs it could be due to a BIOS that did not have Intel
production support for the installed processor. In this event, you should
contact your system or motherboard manufacturer or your place of purchase to
obtain a stand-alone boot procedure to install the matching BIOS for your
processor so Microsoft Windows XP SP2 can resume installation.

No. The Celeron D is a 32 bit processor. It does not support the x86-64
instruction set. The only chips that support the new Windows XP
Professional x64 Edition are AMD64, Intel EM64T, and Opteron chips.
