I answered my own question. Aparently System Idle Process
has no effect on my problem. So, thank anyway. I will
continue my endevor to solve my WindowsXP problem. I do not
want to start from scratch and reload my system.

As you have no doubt figured out by now, System Idle means the computer
is doing *nothing*.

Is your computer on a network? Looking for network connections that are
no longer there perhaps? A printer that was there once and is no
longer?

Malke

Malke: I have never been on a network I use only cable and
I have used the same printer for over 6 months. So, I
assume that is not a possible problem. How may I check for
those conditions? Is there a set configuration on what
should show up in Task Manager with all applications shut
down? I am running McAfee Avert Stinger V 2.4.4. 0 8 Nov 04
now. I am trying all types of virus, spyware, etc., checks
that I can find. Any help is appreciated. I will not admit
defeat!!! Thank you,
Tony

First thing that comes to mind is, software thats running in the
background...especially Norton...(in my opinion, its a rip off)some
background software sucks the speed from your PC, scanning the internet
looking for updates and just running in circles on your computer...
Go to add/delete in your control panel and delete any software you don't use
often(make sure you know what it is, that your deleting)...
empty recycle bin, disk clean up,defrag, restart.I'm assuming yor hard drive
isn't a bunch of compressed files.....
Paul

Thanks Paul, I have done all of that. Don't use Norton,
clean my PC at least daily, unistall software, run
TuneUp2004, System Mechanic 4, Ashampoo WinOptimizer
Platinum Suite, O&O Defrag Professional, etc.
I am pretty confident that I have no virus, spyware, etc.,
too. I have run repair on Office 2003 and have all updates
to WindowsXP, Office 2003, etc.
Nothing is showing that is running in Task Manager but 21
processes.
Thanks,
Tony
