My system randomly restarts since I upgraded my RAM from 512MB to 1GB. I
purchased the correct RAM for my system and the system was off when I
installed the RAM. When my computer restarts, it flashes a blue-screen, and
it say something about files are corrupted. The restart will not stop when I
hit the "Pause/Break" key and I have not been able completely read the error
message. I ran Checkdisk, and the problem stopped until I shutdown my
computer. Once I turned my computer back on, the restart problem came back.
I check my system with Norton Antivirus, and it did not find anything. Also,
I removed the new bank of RAM, and the restart issue continued.

Please comment if you have any thoughts on a solution for this issue?

System Specs:
AMD Athlon 2.4GHz
1 GB RAM (2 x Kingston 512GB PC2700 DDR)
2 x Maxtor Ultra ATA HD

Try removing the original 512MB Ram Module. Also, rt click on
MyComputer>select Properties>Advanced>Startup and Recovery-Settings>Uncheck
Automatically Restart. That should give you a BSOD error message next time
it happens.

if you've only had the problem since you upgraded your RAM, thats likely to
be cause somehow. you need the stop error code to go further.
To check, disable the auto restart on crash:
right click "My Computer" then
properties/advanced/startup & recovery/settings
clear the tick box marked "Automatically restart"
when your system next crashes, check the error code on MS's help site or try
a google search.
