Ok, i got a problem with XP networking

I have set up usernames on both comps case sensitive, both administrators,
same passwords. (as was suggested by a network friend of mine)
There are 2 computers, mine and my brothers, both got xp, i ran the network
wizard on both, setup file and print sharing, ativated C: drive on both
comps and selected the folders i wanted to share. I shared folders, and even
clicked the allow people on network to change my files and folders in the
Sharing and Security section. We can both see each other in the Network
Neighborhood. He can access my files except one folder which says:
"cannot access this computer you do not have permission".

I cannot even get into his comp in network neighborhood. His username is
Default but in network neighborhood it says chris's_comp(sithrius) which is
kinda weird cause mine says 'danbnotme(thermal) danbnotme being my username,
but chris's_comp is not his. So i cant even get 1 inch into his comp through
the network. Anyone got a clue? Maybe default is something you cant network?
And maybe i should have chris's_comp in the user list?
Windows networking is NetBEUI, correct?



I checked to see if maybe his c drive was private, but no it wasn't. Im
lost, i think i have tried everything and asked like 5 people and to no
avail. Thanks to anyone who has a solution.

NetBEUI HAS BEEN (thank God) the Windows network protocol 12-14 years ago
when Windows has made its first steps in the networking field; now it's
TCP/IP. If you have the Internet access, then you got TCP/IP installed.
Stick with it only 'cause you got wireless AP. Compare both computers
network setup, uninstall un-needed and un-wanted components. Check share and
NTFS permissions; If it's XP Home, you can get an access to NTFS permissions
(Security tab) from Safe mode as Administrator.
One computer has the NetBIOS name 'sithrius', the other one is the
'thermal'. Usernames ain't case-sensitive unlike the passwords.

You entered your name for the computer description. He entered a description of his computer. It has no effect on anything what is there. It's just to give a person deciding what Computername to connect to a hint on which one in the list they might want. You might want to put it's location there so if you ever walk to it to fix it you know what floor it's on. Change descriptions in the Computername tab of the System applet. It doesn;t do anything.

Hi,
I'll be blunt. I HATE Windows Networking Wizards! If you're still having
trouble and want help from me, Email me and I"ll guide you through the
manual configuration. It's more reliable (anything NOT left up to the
'capabilities' of Microsoft MUST be more reliable.

Turn off the firewalls on both systems. Right-click 'My Network Places'
then properties. Right-click the Local Area Connection then properties.
Click 'Advanced' tab. Uncheck 'Protect my computer......' Good luck.
