WindowsXP Networking Issue

We have a client running a SQL application from Small Business Server.
He originally started out with 4 workstations and everything was fine.
He recently bought 4 more workstations and now the 4 new ones have very
slow network performance.

The company that wrote the SQL app. seemed to think it was a hardware
issue with the systems so we have tried:

AMD Sempron 2300+ CPU and Motherboard
AMD AthlonXP3100+ on different Motherboard
Intel P4 3000 64-bit on yet another Motherboard
Intel, Realtek, and 3com NICs

ALL of them have exhibited the same problem. The application runs
slower on the the 4 new machines, and only the 4 new machines. All the
systems are running XP Pro with only TCP/IP running. The new ones have
all the service packs and updates installed. The firewalls are
disabled. Today I had a tech out there and he was monitoring nework
performance and the new machines do not seem to show the same
throughput as the old ones. It is not the switch or wiring, we have
tried all that.

I felt from the beginning this is an XP or SBS issue of some sort, but
have never had this problem before so I do not know where to look.
Thanks for any hints.

Have you tried connecting the network connection on the slower PC's to
the jacks/cable being used by the faster PC's?

Have you made sure that your slower PC's have a proper DNS setting?

Do you have a single network switch or did you "ADD" a network switch
for the 4 new machines?

Network adapters are cheap, have you considered purchasing a network
card and testing one of the slower machines with that card?
