WindowsMail losing focus

Anyone else having problems with WindowsMail losing focus in new windows,
like Contacts or even when opening a message window? I often get just a
"blank" window. The only solution that seems to work is to close WM and
reOpen.

I have also had the same problem. So far no luck with communication thru
Dell who I purchased my computer from. Reviewed twice but so far no success.
Will continue to try and let you know if I reach a solution thru them.
One response was to run system restore and another told me my Windows mail
was contaiminated. Their fix did not work.

This is most certainly a Windows Mail or Vista issue. I have even had to
sometimes reboot the system to get it working again, and even then the
problem returns after some period of time. It is becoming annoying...

Make sure you are not running an antivirus program that is
incompatible with Windows Mail. Windows Mail is not compatible
with most McAfee or Norton security programs. Those will need
to be uninstalled, not just disabled.

After uninstalling your non-compatible antivirus, download
and install a more compatible antivirus like the free Avast:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Even compatible antivirus programs will need to have their
email scanning option turned off. For more on this topic see

Really!!! I would think that this would be of at least some moderate concern
at both McAfee and Symantec. Windows Mail is integrated with Vista, and my
Gateway came preloaded with both Vista and McAfee, so it seems somewhat
surprising that both parties would just ignore this. I'll check with
McAfee...

And what do you suppose McAfee is going to tell you?
"We confess, our product sucks." Right...

You're better off listening to the combined wisdom of
independent techs.

Gateway includes a trial version of McAfee only because
McAfee pays (bribes) them to do so.

;-) Well, it'll be worth hearing what their response is anyway. If it is of
any interest or help, I'll let y'all know here. Thanks...

OK, but uninstalling your antivirus, rebooting, testing
Windows Mail, then reinstalling the antivirus, would take
all of about 20 minutes of your time. Isn't that worth the
peace of mind you'd get, knowing you have ruled out one
of the possible causes of your issue?
