Can't delete email from Outbox

I am using Windows Vista Home Premium. I see lots of others have had this
problem. I note that Steve Cochran has a solution which I would like to
follow.

It starts our "Go to the Outbox Directory in Windows Explorer. The location
will be
%USERPROFILES%\AppDataLocal\Microsoft\WindowsMail\LocalFolders\Outbox

I can't find any of this. Exactly where is it hidden?

Thanks for your help.

The correct path is %userprofile%\Appdata\Local\Microsoft\Windows
Mail\Local Folders\Outbox.

The %userprofile% part is in C:\Users\

Click on the Orb and type appdata and from there go into the Local
directory, then Microsoft etc.

Is it not also possible to 'File - work offline', and then delete unsent
outbox mail?

Actually, he does not say that, he says:
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Local Folders\Outbox
The differences are important.
And:
%USERPROFILE% = C:\Users\<UserName>
where <UserName> is YOUR profile name.

No. WinMail must not be running either as an application or as a process.

Creekside,

Do this. Right click start. Then left click explore.

At least on my machine, about two-thirds of the way down the Explorer list
is the "User" folder and behind it is a folder which is named "Dick" (my
name). This is the %UserProfiles% part of the string in your message. Keep
clicking on the diamond to the left of the folder (say Dick) and you will
get all to all the rest of the folders referenced in your message; namely
AppDataLocal\Microsoft\WindowsMail\LocalFolders\Outbox.

I don't recall having to go to the "Outbox" when using Steve's utility. Go
to

www.oehelp.com/wmutil

and download Steve's utility to your desktop per his instructions. Then use
the utility, after unzipping, and compact your e-mail and the problem of not
being able to send messages will disappear. Also, in the future, compact
your e-mail every time the dialog box appears asking if you want to compact
your e-mail.

I don't think you need all of this USERPROFILES stuff but now you know where
it is.

Good luck and let me know what happens.
