Why should he do that Mike?

How come you never post warnings when Firefox and Thunderbird get breached?

This is a Windows group. I don't believe that Thunder Bird has ever been
breached. Can you prove otherwise?

Care to address the content of the article instead of smugly calling me
a troll or would that tax your brain too much?

Sheesh!

I am so glad that you understand that this is an MS Windows group.. perhaps
we will now hear the last of Ubuntu.. you really fell for that one.. I just
wish that I could have told somebody else here what my prediction for your
answer would be.. too funny..

This only effects windows XP sp2 and not Vista or XP sp1 or XP

Microsoft Confirms Zero-Day Windows Exploit

This week, Microsoft confirmed that a new zero-day exploit for a flaw in the
animated mouse cursor rendering technology in Microsoft Internet Explorer
(IE) 7.0 and 6.0 could let malicious hackers perform "drive-by" attacks
against PCs running Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2). (Curiously, XP SP1 and
the original version of XP aren't vulnerable to this exploit.) Microsoft
said that the flaw will require a security patch that will likely be issued
outside of the normal monthly security release cycle. Users running IE 7.0
on Vista aren't affected.

Recommending an alternative to Vista is on topic here, as is
recommending alternatives for IE, OE and Windows Mail are on their
respective newsgroups. I didn't "fall" for anything. You did not reply
to content and only attacked the messenger. You can't get more
amateurish than that.

You are just beginning to hear about Ubuntu as is evidenced by all the
other posters that recommend it here.

Provide the proof or STFU.

Then why are you in a windows group. I don't want to know about toy
operating system. My Vista can run recompiled Unix programs. It's built in.

I wouldn't touch that criminal license called open source with a 10 foot
pole. Talk about giving up all rights.

If these wankers were serious they would write public domain software rather
than licenses that prevent use of Linux if noone like you.

Gosh, seven vulnerabilities and all of them have been patched. Wow, I am
impressed!

Now, take a gander at OE:

Oops.

Not the point troll boy.
The fact it is has been attacked and will continue to be attacked as its
user base grows.

Compare the number of MS users to TB users and you probably have just about
the same ratio of attacks per user.

Have you any idea how many more millions have used IE6 than Thunderbird or
Firefox, and why presently those who wish to do harm on the internet are
more likely to choose the most used browser.. and what do you think would
happen if Firefox was to become the most popular?

Ahhh... Interpretation of the data is a different critter entirely. The
phrase, "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics"
comes to mind and the numbers could be used to make an argument either way.

Some would look at seven advisories (as compared to 23) and conclude
Thunderbird is the better product. Others would consider Outlook Express only
had three advisories in the same period as all seven of Thunderbird and
conclude it is the better product. Still others would consider the first
Outlook Express advisory was in 2002 and attribute the higher number to a
more mature product that is five years old.

Personally, I don't use either product so I'm doubly safe! ;)

There's no need to get insulting.

At least you admit its user base will grow. I wonder why?

Not hardly.

You sound like a stuck record. Same old MickeyMouse FUD. You don't think
anyone believes you anymore? IE is targeted because it's so full of holes
and hence an easy target. Same goes for Windoze.

Cheers.

I don't participate in hypothetical discussions, sorry. The reason that
OE, Windows Mail and IE are attacked so often is due to their
vulnerability, not popularity. At least you admit that the user base for
Fire Fox and Thunder Bird will grow.
