Windows XP???

I am currently using a corporate version of XP which I
borrowed off a friend so that I could try out xp.

Now I have purchased a OEM version of XP with a new Hard
Drive.

Is it possible to replace the corporate version with the
OEM version without formatting and losing my data. Or can
I just change the product key and activate the new one?

Any help would be appreciatesd.

You'll need to do a repair install of the volume license version using the
OEM version. This will retain all of your files and programs and allow you
to enter the OEM product key during setup. You can't simply change the
product key between two different license types as you have.

Only if you re-burn it and make a change to the
setupp.ini. The cd woulfd be a retail then.

Hi,

Do a repair installation with the legitimate copy and Product Key. You will
preserve data, programs, and settings, but you will need to rerun through
all WindowsUpdates.

Follow these steps to do a repair install:

1. Insert the Windows XP CD into your computer's CD-ROM drive or DVD-ROM
drive.
2. Restart your computer. If you have to, change the BIOS settings to start
from
the CD-ROM drive or DVD-ROM drive, and then restart your computer again.
3. At the "Welcome to Setup" page, press ENTER.
4. Press F8 to accept the Licensing Agreement.
5. Use the arrow keys to select the installation of Windows XP that you want
to
repair, and then press R to start the automatic repair process.
6. When Setup is completed, activate Windows XP.

Note that you will need your Product Key for this procedure, so have it
handy before you begin.
