windows xp

something happened and now when i run xp i get all the words on funny
looking simbols ans signs like japaness or somethig or like when i was trying
to read a file on power point ....read on notebook or some other program
would have all kind of soign and symbols....any help would be apreciated
 
this cuold be caused in two ways that i know of...

one: your default language has changed to another language (not likely) use
control pannel, region languages to change to english.

two: the document was actually written in another language. example; X3
reunion (a space game) was written in german so if you open any of the files
they are in german but the game displays english because that is the version
i baught. in this case there is only one solution. if you can open the
document using internet explorer and select translate this page from the drop
down menus.
