I am running Windows XP, all of a sudden I am not able to have more than one
window open at a time. If I am viewing something and it says to go somewhere
else, and I click on it, it closes the first window and does not allow me to
go back. I am working on a Dell, I went to them and they had me down load
the latest version of Microsoft, I did and NOW when I am in my email and hit
send, it logs me completely out. I went from one problem and created a much
bigger one. Now I am wondering if I should just uninstall the latest
version, but I am not sure how and then how do I get my computer to allow me
to have more than one window open at a time. ?? this is VERY frustrating....

Do a system restore to a time when it was working correctly.

Start/ All Programs/ Accessories/ System Tools/ System Restore and follow
the directions there.

Ok, this makes me nervous (maybe you can tell I don't know much about
computers, lol) as long as I can email/shop/im that is all I need.. :)

Here's the thing, what if I can't remember, would it be smart to just go
back to the date I got the computer as I haven't had very long? I just can't
remember all what I have added/done since I got it... I feel like I am in a
dilema (SP) I think I might wait for your response (and only hoping you do)
before I follow the lead.. I did write down your instructions

Ok, I went ahead and did that, Dell actually had the information you talked
about on an icon on my desktop; however, it did not correct my problem. And
it only let me go back as far as May 3 06, I know I need to go further back,
but I did not see how to do that. It also gives a Dell PC Restore, but it
says that all necessary backups have been created prior to proceeding. Can I
do that on floppys as I don't have CD's?? And where do I go to do that?
remember I am not computer literate.. LOL sorry... I hope you can help me...

Control Panel>internet options>advanced>[ ] Reuse windows for launching
shortcuts.
Make sure this is clear.

Frank, I hope you get this. It appears that your response didn't come
through. Please send again.
Thanks
Melinda

ok, I did that, but I don't see anything different happening. Should I go
ahead w/the backup cd? (can I do this on a floppy?) and then do a Restore?
