windows xp word document

when i try to edit a document i previously typed in
windows xp word and saved to a floppy...it says the
document is locked for edit....how can i resolve this

Copy it to your hard drive, unlock it.

Hi - Try right click on the document file name then right
click properties. At the bottom of the page - it should
indicate if "read-only" or one of the other boxes is
checked. If so, just uncheck it. This should resolve
the problem.

If not, I don't know what to suggest - as I'm still in
the mildly advanced stage...
