Windows XP Won't Boot

When I try to start up my computer, it goes to a screen that has multiple
choices such as "Start Windows Normally" and "Last Known Good Configuration".
My keyboard does not work at this screen, so it chooses "Start Windows
Normally". It shows the Windows XP boot screen, but after about 10 seconds, a
blue screen with text flashes onto the screen and the computer restarts.

What's the problem?

You can use your keyboard to make other selections. If you tap the F8 key as
your computer starts you should get to the menu that has Start Normally...
and Lask Known config.... and near the bottom you should see something which
says turn off automatic reboot on error. Something like that. I really cant
remember as its been a long time since I've seen it but you should be able
to work out what it is. Instead of rebooting when you get the error you will
get a blue screen which will have a load of writing with error codes. Write
down what you see including any error codes and messages. This will help
diagnose the problem.

The error should give you a stop code which you can look for online.

Your keyboard should be working at this point. If it isn't then you
have a hardware problem of some kind, perhaps just that the keyboard
is unplugged. Make sure the plug is fully and firmly seated. Try
pressing the NumLock and/or CapsLock keys on the keyboard and see if
the appropriate indicators on the keyboard will turn on and off.

If you are using a USB or Wireless keyboard then you may need to go
into the BIOS setup and ensure that "USB legacy support" is enabled in
the options. You will probably need to use a normal ps/2 keyboard
for this.

Good luck

Okay, I used my PS/2 keyboard instead and it worked. I press F8, but I
couldn't find "Turn off automatic reboot...". I pressed F8 again (goes to
advanced settings or something) and still couldn't find it. I think the stop
error was "UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME", but I don't know if it's a damaged file
system.

Also, if I go to "Safe Mode with Command Prompt", it doesn't get past
"/WINDOWS/System32/Drivers/mup.sys".

Often the problem is that you are using an USB keyboard. Try a standard
keyboard.
