Windows XP will NOT install on new computer...

The computer recognizes all the drives and BIOS is set-up correctly and I
just can't figure this out.

I built a new computer with a Mach Speed motherboard (P4MSD-800D2) and an
Intel Pentium D chip. I can NOT load Windows XP or Windows Media Edition on
this computer. I switched the CD-ROM drive and the Hard Drive for ones that I
knew worked and I still can't load Windows.

When I start the computer it boots from the Windows XP cd and starts to load
Windows. The install gets all the way to asking if I want to "Install XP
press enter - Recovery press R or Exit." When I press either Enter or R the
system just freezes up completely.

I have tried 2 different retail Windows XP Pro, 1 retail Windows XP Home and
an OEM Windows Media Edition. What on earth could be the problem with this
thing.

Sounds more like a hardware problem than windows.
However I suggest you reduce the hardware to absolute necessary items, ie cd
and video card, just the essentials, no sound, no ethernet, etc.
and try again, if all else fails, take it to a GOOD local repair shop and
have them look at it, for us to attempt to diagnose the issue would be
useless.

suggestions, make sure all memory cards are inserted fully, same with all
ide connectors, you didn't mention if you have sata drives or ide. sata
requires the drivers to be loaded before the install of windows, ie press F6
I believe.

Not enough information.

On to what type of hard drive is Windows XP being installed? SATA? PATA?
Type of RAM, speed and how installed?

Is the hard drive SATA or PATA . If SATA you will need to press F6 when
prompted right at the beginning of the XP CD booting. Watch the bottom of
the screen. I happens before you get to the screen asking if you want to
install or use Recovery Console. If this is a SATA drive you will need the
floppy or driver disc that came with the drive. You can likely download one
from the manufacturer if you don't have the disc already. However if this is
a PATA or IDE drive you do not have to do this. In that event it is possible
that there is a hardware problem.

I have everything hooked up right the only thing is I cant get into
bios or see anything it does not beep at all I know its something
little that can be major in a way....so I do not have everything or
just one thing hooked right..fans come on hard drive, dvd..and the
light on the mobo comes on once but does not stay on. when i connect
the power supply but when i start up ...nothings else happens but what
i mentioned...so

reconnected connectors ..fans on, drive spins, reseated the dimm ddr2..

mobo flashes when it's powered but it flashes amber (orange) and green.
I read somewhere that the amber means traffic
please help thanks:mad::mad::mad::eek::cool::frown:

Since this isn't an XP OS issue it might be best, if you haven't otherwise
done so, to post to a hardware newsgroup.
