Windows XP w SP2 is not shutting down

Hi Guys,

I have an HP dx 7600 with windows XP professional with SP2 pre-installed. It
is hanging on "Windows is shutting down". I dont have any virus, most of the
updates are installed.

Any idea that can help?

Thank you in advance...

1. Disconnect from the internet for protection, since you'll be disabling
antivirus, etc. Run MSCONFIG from the Start>Run box. On the Startup tab,
disable everything, on the Services tab, check Hide all Microsoft Services
(bottom) and then disable all that remains. Click OK and restart, then test
the shutdown. Did it help? (Be sure to go back and re-enable the items in
MSCONFIG before re-connecting to the internet.)

Just had the same problem on an HP. It was the power supply, which
tested good but a new ps fixed it.
