Ive got a little brother using the same computer at me who is using a
seperate account. He is constantly downloading stuff that is raping my
computer and i was wondering if theres something kind of way to limit an
account. Its alredy set on a limited account and not a computer
administrator. Also i was wondering if theres a way to disable him from using
specific hardware e.g a webcamera etc cuz i think hes being dodgy with that
thing as well lol.
Thanks to anyone that can help.

Hi,

Are you using XP Home Edition or Professional. You probably also want to
download spyware programs to clean out your system. Another thing you
should is go to this site http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm and
follow the suggestions there. Depending on the OS version, you might be
limited on what you can do to prevent your little brother from killing your
comp, except from restricting him from using it or get him his own comp to
break (then refuse to repair it since he wasn't responsible enough to keep
it safe).

Talk to your parents. You all need a family meeting. Technological
solutions are not going to solve the root of this problem.

Hey that site was handy thanks man, but i think its for the wrong version of
windows. Ive only got Home edition so yeh i think that was written for
professional. Looks like it would have worked but it doesnt lol. If it is for
home edition can someone help me. I followed the example written on that site
but the executable file didnt have a security tab under the properties
Thanks anyway

You have to boot to Safe Mode. and preferably use the Administrator
account that then appears on the Welcome screen. In Safe mode, Simple
file sharing is disabled, and you can use normal NTFS security pages to
set things up

Thanks man ill try that now. It didnt say anything about that lol useless
thing. Ok ill go try now and get back to u if it doesnt work. I dont see how
that would work tho u tend to lose stuff in safe mode. but ill try anyway.
Thanks heaps and thanks to everyone else that tried to help ^^.

Hey Ron that did work thanks heaps for that. Ive still got the problem of him
using the webcam though. I think he actually flashed someone and hes only
like 11 its ridculous. not that i care for him i jst dont want my cam abused
like that lol like is there a similar way to deny access to hardware. Even a
printer for example. And is there anyway i can stop him downloading but keep
access to iexplorer. This should help things heaps. Ill format then setup his
rights and well have a happy computer:D. Thanks for everything
