XP User accounts

What a mystery XP user accounts - credentials etc. !

On a XP Home PC that has only ever had 1 administrator a/c
....I tried making a limited account, and as soon as looging into it - there
were lots of shortcuts to programs that I don't want the limited use to play
around with e.g. AVG 8.0 ....and I was unable to delete it / them from
the limited users desktop. How do you control / add / remove program
shortcuts from the limited users desktop ?

Also, IE7 reported several HP faults e.g HP web-page printing errors or
something like that. I don't need to prevent the limited user from using
IE7 - however, why is installed HP software / IE plugins perhaps ?
malfunctioning in the limited user account ?

When you create a new user account, the profile is taken from Default User
settings. Items in All Users are also applied. To manage how a new account
appears, change things in those locations. Examples are the Start Menu
listings, icons on the Desktop, and Favorites.

You obviously need to manage these things from an administrative account.
The Limited account doesn't have the ability to change things in All Users
and Default User which is why you can't delete the Desktop icons from that
account.

As for the problem with IE7 and printing, you would need to be more precise
about errors. Recently HP has added a "Smart Web Printing" application to
their machines/printer software that is not very smart. Uninstall Smart Web
Printing from Add/Remove Programs if this is applicable to you.
