Creating User Accounts

Hi!, I am new to "creating users account on Windows XP Pro, SP2", well I am
new in any Operating System. I am trying to create a User Account, as a Power
User, since we are installing an old application that only works under
Administrative privileges accounts (I assume, because it works under the
Administrator User). I created a limited account, but the application doesn't
work, so I tried to create a Power User, but when I access at the User
Accounts, it only let me choose either Administrators or limited accounts.
Then I went to the Administrative Tools icon under Control Panel, Under
Computer Management, Local Users and Groups, look for the Power Users under
Groups, add the Account I created, and tried the application and it doesn't
run. I noticed, that after I included the new account under the Power User
Group, the description read as an "Unknown account type". May I be missing
something? Please Help,

Thanks,

Ivette

Hi,

It's "normal" :) If your user is in Power User group then he has all rigths
as a Power User.

And why app should be opened with that high rights ? Perhaps your user only
needs write access to an registry key or folder?

Sorry, but successfully adding the user as a Power User may be irrelevant if
the application wants full Admin rights. Check with the application
vendor.

Yes, as I understand the applications writes something at the registry. If
that is the reason, what can i do?

Yes, the application writes something in the Registry, can I do something
about that?
