Windows xp upgrade

I don't undestand why I am only limited to use my copy of
windows professional upgrade on one set. My computer
crashed, so I built one on my own. I installed the only
operating system I had and that was windows me. Well then
I loaded my windows xp upgrade and now it is telling me
that I need to registor it in 28 days. I was advise that
i can only load it on one computer and that is what I am
trying to do. My other computer which I brought from
gateway has windows xp home edition in , so no reason to
install windows xo in it. Is there any way around this, I
need a responce asap pls send it to (e-mail address removed)

it is normal with windows xp to have to 'activate' within 30 days.
'registration' is something different and is voluntary. but if you don't
activate within 30 days it will stop working. as long as that is the only
computer that copy is installed on you can activate it and get rid of the
nagging either on-line or via phone.

Windows is provided - and always has been - under a license to use one
copy on one single machine. Not to allow it to be installed on every
machine in the street, or even on your laptop as well. Hence the
Activation (not registration) to bring the point to your attention.
