windows xp upgrade installation

I have started my upgrade xp installaton. It has been on
the preparing installation screen for 15 minutes now. I
dont think its doing anything. There are no error
messages. What do I do. Shut my computer down and restart
the process. Will I loose any infomation. Will it go back
to the 98SE operating system.
 
Hi,

Is the hard drive light still flickering? It may still be doing something.
Otherwise, restarting at this early stage shouldn't be a problem - make sure
your antivirus software is disabled.

Did you run the XP upgrade advisor? Your software and hardware must be Xp
compatible before you upgrade. JJ
