I am experiencing difficulty upgrading Windows 98se to
Windows XP Home Edition. All is well until the first
restart. The restart proceeds to "verifying DMI pool
data" and system hangs until I turn it off (ctl/alt/del
will not restart computer). When I turn it back on, it
proceeds to that same point and will go no further,
requiring that I format hard drive and reinstall Win 98,
etc. I have diconnected all periferals except master hard
drive, cd rom drive, keyboard & mouse. Cyrix III (700 mghz)
processor, 512mb ram, 80 gig h/d, Award bios
(10/31/2000). Any suggestions?
