Windows XP upgrade boot up problem

Recently, I upgraded a computer from Win 98 to Win XP.
During the initial setup screens, I chose the Networked
option as I intended to set up a wireless network with a
laptop.

Now, everytime I boot up, I get a message asking me to
insert my card or press CTRL ALT DEL to get to the
Desktop.

How do I get rid of this message so that the machine
boots directly to the Desktop?

Uninstall whatever you installed to do the network setup
when you installed XP.
