Windows XP update

I currently run Windows XP, I just had to reformat my
system due to a virus. After reinstalling XP, I proceeded
to update windows. After downloading SP1 and installing,
when my system rebooted, all I had was a background, no
program icons at all. I have a valid serial #, any help
would be appreciated.

Right click on the desktop > properties > Select Desktop under Display
properties > click on "Customize Desktop".My Documents,My Computer
Internet Explorer, Recycle Bin,or My Network Places can be added or
removed here.
