Windows XP unable to boot to recovery console

Shut down Windows fine after checking email, wnet back
next day to find black screen with message: Windows could
not start because the following file is corrupt or
missing: \Windows\System32\Config\System

I cannot access Recovery console system keeps repeating
this error...

Any ideas?

Boot from your CD and follow the unscreen instruction to
reapir your windows partition.
