Windows XP startup error

Hello,
I recently upgraded my old PC, putting Windows XP onto
it, then installing a new RAM chip. After installing the
RAM (it all went as the installation procedure page said
it should) Windows will not open. The page with the
scrolling 'worm' deal comes up, the worm goes over a few
times, then a blue screen pops up and the whole computer
restarts. Any ideas?

Matching RAM modules can be a problem. If the timing,
such as CAS ( Column Address Strobe ) isn't matched
then it is possible for the computer to not boot properly.

Sometimes, you can adjust for miss-matches with BIOS
timings. However, the best solution is to use as few RAM
modules as possible to avoid this type of issue.

This doesn't sound like a voltage issue, as your computer
obviously passes the Power on Self Test. You might try
putting the largest size module in the 1st Ram slot.

Possible problem with the drivers or hardware of
somesort. I know when i've encountered this on machines
it's always been drivers and stuff. try seeing if you can
get into safe mode before windows xp begins to load by
hitting F8. See what you can find out in there maybe.
