Please can anybody help, I am trying to put my pc into
stand-by mode but i keep getting the following
message, "The device driver for the 'Generic volume'
device is preventing the machine from entering stanby.
Please close all applications and try again. If the
problems persist, you may need to update this driver. I
would like to put my pc in standby so that i can schedule
my tv pvr to record my programmes to my hard drive.

Many Thanks

Chris

Sounds like your hard drive or some other driver on the
computer, perhaps controlling a disk or other hardware,
won't let your machine stand by.

"Generic volume" sounds like you hard drive. Normally it would just be
using the drive Disk.sys. Is it using something else? You can look at
the drives in Device Manager. Do you have something special installed in
the way of hard drive or storage related utilites?
