There are 2 versions of sp2: one is the exress update by automatic update
and, second is the download version of sp2 for IT in the microsoft download
site. If I already have the sp2 in my computer, is there any way that I can
know which sp2 I am using now? Thanks

Look at the size of the file. The download version of SP2 is a
self-executing file of approx. 280 MB whereas the express load
version is an execute file of around 480 KB.

Your question doesn't make much sense. If SP2 is installed it makes no
difference if it came from the full version or the express. The express
version just downloads what is needed to update the system. The full
version is just that, but when used to update a system, only the files
that are needed are used. What the source is for the update is not
relevant once it's applied.

If you only need SP2 on one computer - get it through Windows Update - there
may not be a file saved on your hard drive. Which is most likely how you got
it.

If you are an IT person then you would know that downloading the full SP can
be saved on a server and/or CD for installing on more than one computer
without these computers connecting to the internet individually (of course
you can with a LAN but why put all this traffic over the internet which
could cost extra and be slower).

As for the versions - they would be the same - it's just the method of how
the SP2 was originally obtained.

I just wonder microsoft let people to download the "Windows XP Service Pack 2
Network Installation Package for IT Professionals and Developers" on their
download site 266MB, and why they don't put the express verson there too,
which is a much smaller file.

My computer already has the SP2. I don't know if it is the full version of
IT or the express version because I am not the one install it. Is there a
way to check where version I am using? or it does not matter? By the way, I
am not IT people.

If SP2 is installed on your computer, you have what you need. The full
download includes everything. The express version just gives your
specific machine what it needs. You aren't missing anything so don't
worry about this.

This is a non-issue.

I answered that the first time. It's not relevant what version was used
to install SP2. Either one just installs what's needed - the finished
product is the same, and there is no such thing as checking which
version you're using. SP2 is installed - that's the version. IT has
nothing to do with it per se. The full version is available so it can
be used on any number of systems - burned to CD, stored on a network
drive, etc. This is more often needed by and done by IT staff but not
restricted to that.
