Is there fix for dual core?

I recently change the CPU from AMD 3500+ to 4400+ dual core, and I reinstall
the whole Windows XP pro SP2. Is there any fix that I need to download
seperately in order to maximize the performance? Or it is done
automactivally? Thank you.

Not unless you get Windows XP 64 or a 64 Bit Linux Distro. Some 32 bit
applications will run faster on a 64 chip but it does not make a hell
of a lot of difference on a normal workstation. You will notice the
difference in improved overall speed in cpu intensive apps and
especially games.

Performance is also dependent on other factors, RAM, chipset,
graphics card, HDDs and the power supply all contribute to speed /
stability. There is no point in just upgrading the PSU and expecting
massive performance increases.

You do not need to install a "fix" but you could get the latest
Mainboard drivers and BIOS installed for your hardware.

This is not Automatic, do not rely on the windows update drivers it
will end in tears, go to the hardware manufactorers and download
drivers directly.

If you're running XP (and you said you are), simply turn on
your "Automatic Downloads/Updates" feature, and the
Microsoft software will monitor your system and notify you
of whatever updates you may need.

I'd advise that you set the updates for "notify me".

That way, you're not rebooting without warning when new
updates install invisibly.

Good luck!
