How do I see AMD dual-core

I have a working system dual-boot/XPPro & 2KPro and upgraded just the CPU
from an AMD 64 to an AMD 64 4400+ dual-core. Both systems still work after
the upgrade. System info reports the X2 flag on the processor but I only see
1 core. On Itanium systems I see 2 cpu's if they are there and in the AMD
world I only see one. I tried Linux-smp kernel and both cores are working
and available with that OS. Would a re-install give me access or can this be
done on the fly?

Thanks.

Will require a "Repair" install to load the correct HAL (Hardware
Abstraction Layer).

Can't be done On-the-Fly as switching Computer driver will only
work in a down step fashion (Example ACPI to Standard PC).
