I understand that there is a hot fix for AMD dual core systems running XP
sp2. Can anyone provide the download address and has anyone any comments on
this fix?

There is no download address. Hotfixes are only available by calling
Microsoft. This is a quick and painless process. Just tell the person
that your computer is showing symptoms of KB[insert number here] and
that you need the hotfix. They will send you an email with the download
link and a password to open the zipped file you will download.

Thanks Malke

Will this hotfix generally improve performance on a dual core system or
should it only be used if you have a specific problem.. I read a magazine
(PCFORMAT) that suggested that anyone running an AMD dual core would benefit
from installing this fix. Anyone any views?

You should only apply hotfixes to solve specific problems. If you aren't
having any problems, don't apply a hotfix. Instead, look for other
causes. This is my opinion; you might want to check on some AMD or
hardware forums.
