So I've been trying to install Service Pack 2 on my computer, but every time
that I start the download I get a message that says, "The expected version of
the product was not found on your system." I'm not sure what version it does
mean I have on my system, but I would appreciate any help in getting
everything fixed and downloaded correctly.

Thanks!

Hi Roomie,

Are you trying to install Office 2003 SP2, or Windows XP SP2?

Can you give me the URL from where you downloaded the "SP2" from?

I was trying to install Windows XP SP2.

Thanks!

I went to "http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsxp/default.mspx"
to download SP2. At one point it said that I already had SP2 downloaded, but
the message that my "Windows XP is no longer secure" is still showing up.

Check if if there are any events recorded in the Windows XP SP2 setup log. It's located at "%windir%\svcpack.log" (type the path in Start/Run)

Or, you may try downloading and installing the Windows XP SP2 offline/network installation pack here:

Something doesn't make sense here...

The error message you referenced is a result of a problem with *Office*
XP SP2, not Windows XP SP2.

What happens when you:

Click on Start, Run
and type "winver" (without quotation marks)

What version of XP do you have (and which service pack)?
