Hi JPM,

May be there's some conflit between the utility your wifi adapter uses to
connect to the network and SP2's own module in the Control Panel. Try
uninstalling the utility and configure your connction in SP2. Let XP manage
your connection.

Good luck,
Mike.

Thanks Mike for your reply, But this is not the problem
because if i uninstall Sp2 it is ok there is no conflict
also i am use a ethernet card buit-in to the ASUS
motherboard and i plug this to the router, my 2 other
computer wireless that connect to the same router are find
and they can go to the internet.
Any other tips that i can verify.
Thanks!!

I have the same problem kind of. It all started after installing SP2

I have a home network running on WIN XP PRO PCs
One PC can't ping or connect to the other. When I go to my network places
and select View workgroup computers, it shows AMD2400ATI but if I click on
it I get the following error.

How can I fix it so this computer has permission to use this network
resource. It worked fine before installing XP SP2.

AMD2400ATI is not accessible. You might not have
permission to use this network resource. Contact the
administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.
The network path was not found.

I am administrator on both PCs and have shares on both PCs. I disabled the
firewall and it did not help.

IPs are

196.168.249.2

JPM,

Did you try to disable Windows Firewall? With SP2, it's on by default.
Disable it to see if it's causing it.

Or try to delete the old connexion configuration and reconfigure again.

I'm using an SMC Barricade my self with SP2.

Mike.

I have the same problem. I have installed, uninstalled,
and reinstalled SP2 several times on the same machine.
Each time networking works fine with XP SP1a, but when I
install SP2 that kills most network functionality. Using
the SP2 machine I can't ping any other machine on the
network and I can't access the internet. I can, however,
ping the SP2 machine from another computer. I have tried
this on two different networks and each time got the same
result. Microsoft tech support sent me a couple of
suggestions, but they didn't work. I'm waiting for more
advice from them. From the messages I've been reading, it
looks like I'm not the only one struggling with this
problem.

This worked for me, no more error messages and no second
