Windows XP SP2 Data Execution Protection Error Notice

I use Windows XP Home Edition SP2. I purchased a new NEC notebook PC.
After purchase, I have installed several software including Zone Alarm Pro
V6.0.667.000 (personal firewall) and Kaspersky Anti-virus Personal Pro
V5.0.390.

I have Windows XP firewall feature turned off.

I don't know whether installing those software above have anything to do
with it but I am unable to open Windows Explorer nor access Control Panel.
The error message I get states:

"Explorer.exe applicaton error command 0x001266a0. Was not able to write
in memory. Data execution protection (DEP)."

I am able to send and receive email.

I then rebooted my pc with safemode, opened Control Panel, System, Details,
Performance/Settings, Data Execution Protection tab.

The first radio button is checked which states: "Only enable important
Windows programs and services". There are no programs listed in the box
below.

When I clicked on the 2nd radio button which states: "Enable DEP for all
programs and services except the following" and there is Windows Explorer
unchecked in the box below. I therefore checked the Windows Explorer box,
pressed OK and rebooted the machine.

Everything is now working properly. I can access explorer and control panel.

1) Is this problem unusual?

2) Is it alright to have the 2nd radio button marked?

Problem solved after taking off check mark on "real time network protection"
from Kaspersky AntiVirus Personal Pro.
