Windows xp sp2 bootable cd

Hi,

I have made a bootable cd for windows xp sp1 and now downloaded and
installed windows xp sp2. Windows xp sp2 works fine with my two comuters
(dell dimension 4550, CPU P4, 640 MB RAM and the other one Dell Laptop
inspiron 1150, 256 MB RAM) and no problem at all so far.

I am just wondering if the bootable cd that I have made for windows xp sp1
will work with windows xp sp2 or I should make another one.

If yes, where I can find the instructions?

Hi

You will need to make a different slipstreamed SP2 CD for each machine you
have, with the appropriate XP CD and relevant PK:

You can download the SP2 file (266 MBs) from here:

or if you have a copy of the SP2 CD, you can copy the xpsp2.exe file from
that CD onto your hard disk/partition and use that:

PK stand for and where I can find it? sorry I am not pro!

Sorry - PK is the Product Key which is the 25 alphanumeric code you have to
use when installing XP. Should been with the CD or stuck on the side of
your PC somewhere.

yes got it thanks for your help...will try to make the bootable cd for both
desktop and laptop seperately as I have two different windows xp home
cds...if i see i have difficulty making it then i will bw back in here...

You should use the full scale 266MB SP2 you downloaded to 'slipstream
and make a new CD including it (you could use the one you made with SP1
as start point, but on the whole I think I would go back to your
original XP CD. See - as one way - Slipstreaming SP2:

Thanks Alex for your message...I made the bootable cd using the information
provided by Will Denny. The only thing that I am concerned with, is that I
made the bootable cd using my desktop computer's windows xp cd and tested
it. It works fine with both desktop and laptop computers but the windows in
laptop has another product key so i am just wondering still i need to make
another one for laptop or not.

The product key is not part of the CD, you must supply that at the time of install. As long as both computers use exactly the same version of Windows XP (Pro, Home, Retail, OEM etc.) you should be fine and only need one CD.
