I was wondering if at all does winXP SP2 install a MDAC version? If it does install MDAC, what is the version that is installed?

Thanks
Eric

SP2 does not include any version of MDAC.

Carey,

I have installed XP Prof and when going thru the registry I find lots of MDACVer 2.70 entries (amonst others). Can u pls advise me what these are? Did I maybe install MDAC inadvertantly or are those common to XP Prof?

Thanx

I'm having issues with Windows XP SP2 and MDAC 2.91.

I ran the MDAC component checker from Microsoft which reports a mismatch on
MSADCO.DLL (expected version 2.81.117.0) and after spending many hours
researching Microsoft's site, I have come to the conclusion I would have to
install SP2.

But see, that is where the problem begins. After I installed the SP2 the
first time and also adding a patch for SQL Server, I lost my Access ODBC
drivers. I tried to do a restore but I lost that too. (I think that’s due to
not having too much memory space left on my hard drive.)

MS site states that MDAC 2.81 for Windows XP Pro can ONLY be found in SP2.
Well, I have reinstalled it many times and it still hasn’t fixed the problem
and you can't install v2.81 stand-a-lone.

The bottom line, there doesn’t seem to be a fix to this issue. I have seen
many people on here with the same issue.

There should be a way to fix Access ODBC drivers for Windows XP Pro.
Installing SP2 doesn’t help fix this problem!!! HELP!
